Why is the startup wav and battery meter taking sooo long?
Why is the startup wav and battery meter taking sooo long?
So, I just did a clean install of XP, installed all the ThinkPad drivers and whatnot. One of the only things I didn't install, though, was Access Connections.
Windows startsup pretty quick I'd say... maybe under 10-15 seconds. The only problem is that the actual Windows startup sound/wav doesn't even play for about 30-50 seconds! The ThinkPad battery meter doesn't show up until around that time, either. So, everything's up and running... programs are accessible, Start menu's accessible, internet's accessible, etc, in 15 seconds or less. But there's a stupid lag for the startup wound and battery meter, and possibly some other things I'm not noticing as of yet.
Any ideas of how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks!

I would recommend using Microsoft tool "Bootvis" to troubleshoot the issue. Bootvis can show a nice time graph that shows what happens during the entire boot process.
Bellevue... how's it going? I bet holiday traffic's ridiculous out there by the Square right now.
Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out!
