T41 wont boot up.

#1 Post by Padhead » Wed Dec 19, 2007 9:02 pm

Help. I have a meeting in 11 hours.

My T41 won't boot up. It hangs up at the Windows XP start-up screen, before it gets to the user login screen.

None of the safe mode boots will work either. (safe mode , safe mode with command prompt, last known working configuration, etc)

Any suggestions?

Have you checked the event viewer for errors?

You probably want to post this to the Windows OS forum.

Isn't this the wrong forum for this question?

Yes it is the wrong forum. Sorry. I am in the process of buying a T60, and I inadvertently posted in the T60 forum. My bad.

If I do that , does it format the disk? Do I lose all my data?

Booting into that area does not delete any data however initiating the restore process does..

If required, you can copy all your data to an external media from there as well and then start the restore process.
