XP sp3 release candidate / BSOD

#1 Post by jwynn9154 » Thu Dec 20, 2007 7:33 am

I installed the publicly available Windows XP sp3 release candidate on my X60t last evening without any initial difficulty.

After rebooting - while docked in my ultrabase - the machine immediately (and repeatedly) bluescreened, even in safe mode, and even with no peripherals attached to the dock (this ultrabase does not have an optical drive either).

When not docked, the machine ran fine.

Needless to say, I immediately uninstalled sp3 and have had no trouble since - the uninstall was uneventful as well.

So, buyer beware . . . (of beta software).

Thanks for the warning!

I wouldn't install anything from Microsoft in beta...Random 3rd party software developers with limited/no experience...absolutely!

Good point dan, I only use beta stuff if I create an image for my own testing purposes.

Utterly painless and I saw some significant improvements. Perfectly happy with it.
