Finding a decent Vista theme for XP(Pic)

#1 Post by agarza » Mon Dec 24, 2007 10:30 am

I'm wondering, since WMP11 and Ares have the same icon layout at the top to close, maximize and minimize screens 100% similar to Vista

isn't out there a theme for XP with those exact icon measurements?

search deviantart.com for visual styles, keyword "vista".

Crystal XP - Vista Theme

You may need a program called "StyleXP" in order to use it. But that should be able to get you started. CrystalXP.net is a pretty decent site for all sorts of styles and skins for things.

Beware that some of these shell modifying programs don't uninstall cleanly should you decide to do so and hence can render the Windows XP installation unbootable/unusable - speaking from bad experience. Make sure you are backing up your important data regularly and have install CDs handy - just in case.

As long as you follow the instructions and boot in safe mode etc. you should be fine.

I've seen this happen, so this is simply a precaution, after getting burned myself by a theme I only use the black royal noir posted by gator. Create a restore point just for a little extra insurance.
