Possible to adjust charge speed?

#1 Post by hyperslug » Thu Dec 27, 2007 12:03 am

Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the speed at which the battery charges? I'm wondering if I can slow it down to improve battery life.

You can set thresholds for where the battery will begin charging (ie. if you set it at 90%, and the battery has more than 90% when you plug it in, it won't charge).

This is only on higher models...I had it on my old T43, but I don't think my T40 offers that.

I don't think that's possible. Even using a lower-capacity power brick, it would still go at the highest possible capacity, PLUS that brick would 'burn out' sooner because it has to work 'overtime' and overheats.
Your best bet is to use PowerManagement and set it so it won't charge over 85% when the TP runs with AC inserted.

PS: dsigma beat me to it :)
