help: brightness always defaulting to full

#1 Post by skanky » Mon Nov 22, 2004 7:59 am

im using speedswitchxp 1.4 and for some reason i cant get it to change the brightness setting when plugged in using AC, it always defaults to max brightness and i always have to change it to half brightness.

any way to get it to remember the setting?

I don't know about speedswitchxp but here's one of probably several other ways:

open IBM's Battery MaxiMizer Wizard
step tru till Setting Power Schemes
click on create New Power Scheme
click Change AC Power Settings
select your options for when on AC (lcd brightness)
click Apply AC Settings
select your options for when on Battery
give your scheme a name
click save
complete the wizard

------------------------
EDIT:

I see that you could also right-click and Modify any existing scheme in the Setting Power Scheme window but I think it's best to create a new rather than modify an existing.

speedswitch creates its own profile and regularly checks to make sure the profile isnt corrupted.

i might try making a new profile with the same name that speedswitch uses and set that to a lower brightness..

ack, found out how to fix it. i needed to right click on the profile in battery maximiser and modify it, creating a new speedswitch control profile was worthless.
