removing Windows Vista (TM) logo from my desktop

#1 Post by Marin85 » Thu Jan 10, 2008 12:55 pm

Hi all,
I´ve just downloaded and successfully installed Vista Business SP1 RC and rebooted again. Just that Windows Vista (TM) evaluation copy build 6001 appeared after reboot and is quite annoying. I tried TuneUp utilities which would have removed it under other circumstances...no success. Is there any other way to remove that thing from desktop?
Any ideas are highly appreciated!

Thanks

Marin

well that's pretty small thing to be annoyed about. It's a lil 156 x 95 pixel area. Browsing the net, checking email and all that normally covers the desktop so you probably see it once in a while when you boot up.

Anyways, to remove it you can just use TweakUI or the Vista version and uncheck "remove desktop version" or something like that.

I'm using RC also and i probably see it maybe once a day if that, i always put my system to sleep and i usually have browsers and outlook open so they are always covering the desktop and therfeore the lil small tiny area of the SXGA+ screen i have :).... it's even transparent. Shizer.

I just tried to install Tweak UI (from M$ Powertoys) but the installation failed due to OS. XP seems to be the latest MS OS that supports Tweak UI. Thanks for your advice though!
Well, that little thing is so annoying to me ´cause I have a little nice sweet folder in that corner it´t interfering with. That´s why I´d be glad to remove the tiny Vista (TM) thing (and definitely not the folder, nor displace it) :D

Cheers

I thought you meant the little Vista sticker on the laptop when I read this and was wondering why you didn't just peel it off and rub some solution on it.

 8)

@SHoTTa35: No prob, it was my second guess that you´ve probabely meant TweakVI instead of TweakUI :), so I tried it out as well and unfortunately it didn´t work for me :( But I´ll give it a try again, maybe I´ve overseen something. And Thanks a lot for your answer!

@tylerwylie: sry, it´s my fault, I didn´t describe the issue very well.

If you are that easily annoyed, you may not be prepared to go through the tedious process of elminating the message....

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your responses, guys! In the meantime I decided to roll back to my previous installation of Vista due to some software probs and strange behaviour of Vista after the upgrade. So I simply restored the image I did before upgrading to SP1 RC from my Acronis Secure Zone and now I´m happy as my Vista is again running fast as hell  . And I won´t have to get used to that watermark (or whatever it is), that is indeed so annoying to me as I have a really nice desktop :D I´ll probabely wait for the final release of SP1.

Thanks again for your help!
