XP Home Windows Logon password problem...

Hey all,

A friend of mine's daughter put a password on the IBM Thinkpad I gave him to give to her around 2 years ago. It has Windows XP Home Edition and the kid (not her, but her brother LOL) put the password on the machine and forgot it. He brought it over today. The way he described it, I though "Oh shhhh...sounds like a BIOS pw", but it turned out to be the WinXP Logon password. How do I get rid of it?

Please help. She feels bad enough and he wants to play his games.

Try starting in safe mode and logging on as administrator, hopefully someone has the password, or there isn't one set.
As admin you can then change / delete user passwords.

if you have set a administrator password, go into safe mode and use it. you can then re-set any other passwords present. if not, be prepaired to re-load the o/s. if you need to get anything off the drive, you can load it as a slave into any desktop,
and copy the inportaint files (a drive recignized as a slave will
ignore any o/s present,) use the explore function and copy the files to your master drive. you could also try to repair the existing
o/s with a install disk, it might preserve the other files. good luck, adrin
