#1 Post by hashim » Fri Nov 26, 2004 1:59 pm

hi
Ive tried to install a fresh copy of windows 2000 on my thinkpad T22. I have formatted the hard disk and when the install program starts to copy windows files, the disc spins and then errors occur such as ' Unable to copy'
please help me solve this problem thanks.

Right off the bat, you are in the wrong location for this question, as this area is for OS/2 support.

That being said, sounds like your CD is a bit dirty. Have you cleaned it? Perhaps the DVD drive is dirty. Check the CD for scratches, smudges, fingerprints and the like. Obviously a crack in the disk will be a major problem.

Have you verified the CD can be read in another machine?

Have you considered switching to eComStation?

The easiest thing to do is borrow someone's CD. I'd try that first.

If you're really having a problem with this, then one thing you could try to do is copy the entire contents of the win2000 cd to a folder on the hard drive of the thinkpad. Boot the thinkpad to a command line prompt via the 2000 CD or a boot disk or win98 boot cd or whatever.

Then you can run the windows 2000 setup from dos mode. I forget the exact syntax of this command, but you can look it up on google.
