System Tray Balloons are Behind Taskbar

#1 Post by rubbish84 » Fri Feb 08, 2008 9:14 pm

I have recently purchased a Thinkpad T61 and I have downgraded to windows XP (at least for now) since I was finding vista far too slow.
I'm finding that very often the system tray balloons are getting stuck behind the taskbar. I know that this is a known glitch in windows XP but I'm finding it is happening far more frequently than on any of my other XP systems.

Does anyone know why this would be happening and how I would go about fixing it?

Any help would be appreciated.

I do it this way, as mentioned in one of the linked threads:

untick 'Keep the taskbar on top of other windows', Apply, OK.

(bring up Taskbar and Start Menu Properties again)

tick 'Keep the taskbar on top of other windows', Apply, OK.

I have just had the opportunity to try that work around and unfortunately it doesn't work for me.

Does anyone else have any other ideas?

You may want to have a look at this.

Superego's method worked great for me. Tooltipfixer is run as a service and appears to use 5,668K when running. I've tried other methods in the past, and none of them worked reliably 100% of the time.
