How to upgrade?

#1 Post by blu3ic3 » Tue Feb 12, 2008 1:53 pm

My T61p is currently installed with Vista Home Basic. I currently have a full copy of Vista Business and would like to install that. Can anyone direct me to the correct procedure on how to install it? Thanks!

There are several detailed tutorials on the web you can find using google but I will try to quickly summarize for you.

Since you have a new license it should be pretty simple.

You just run you new vista installation disk from within your current copy of Vista. If it doesn't auto run, run setup.exe on the disk. You will be presented with a series prompts. Select upgrade when given the choice and follow along with the prompts selecting the version of vista you have a license for and entering your install key when prompted. It should be pretty self explanatory from there. Vista will upgrade and leave all your programs, settings, and data intact.
