Vista Business on T42
Vista Business on T42
Hi Guys,
I have a T42 with the SXGA+ 14.1" screen. It has 1GB ram and the Radeon mobility 9600 64MB.
Can i run vista at its native RES?
By the way i am using XP Pro now but outputting via a dock to a samsung 21" screen of 1680X1050
Is this possible?
Also which video driver should i download?
Cheers,
Kenn.

Hi
I'm using Windows Vista on my T42 , i have a ATI Mobility Raedon, 7500 with 32 MB, this chip is not fully support on vista, but i install ati driver for XP and works fine. 0 blue screens in 2 months of use.
the only issue is that i can't run the Windows Evaluation Experience.
If you want, here is my .nfo file at

Re: Vista Business on T42
In my experience with several systems (Thinkpads and Desktops), in general Vista will not run well in less than 2GB.... it will run but struggles and was definitely inferior to XP Pro performance in the same memory configurations.k3nnis wrote:I have a T42 with the SXGA+ 14.1" screen. If you can find a Vista driver for the Radeon 9600, then you should be fine to run it in whatever resolutions the driver supports.k3nnis wrote:Can i run vista at its native RES?

Re:
The Radeon 9000 driver actually works for a Radeon 7500 with Vista. It gives a performance score of 1.9 (which is about as good as it will ever get with a 7500).... not good enough for Aero, but workable for non-Aero.tazchacal wrote:7500 with 32 MB, this chip is not fully support on vista

Hi Guys,
Which driver do you recommend for the T42 with a 64mb radeon 9600 mobility on Windows Vista Business?
I have 1.5GB ram on my T42.
I am using the stock standard radeon driver built into vista business but when i scroll through pages the refresh rate kinda lags if you know what i mean?....
Not smooth...
I'm running at 60Hz 1680X1050.
Also what is Aero? Is it built into Vista business? Where is it?:)
Cheers,
Kenn.
