System Update Hotfix 1 won't install ..

R51 with XP Pro SP2

Just ran System Update and was offered "System Update Hotfix 1". After download it went through the motion of installing but in the end just said "1 package did not install."

What's up with that?

Just a guess, but this "Hotfix" may be a Windows Update duplicate that has already been installed (if you have Windows Update turned on)?

As a new IBM user, I'm not convinced that System Update is competent and can be trusted, though other users may prove me wrong.

The recently released patch for "ThinkVatage System Update" improves scheduling performance (if set) and nothing more.

Give it a try again, sounds like you've only tried it once, sometimes (usually on weekends) the link to lenovo server is put down for maintenance and it can be a possibility that you were downloading the package during that period.
