Screen shakes/flickers and later turns to one solid color

#1 Post by dsp » Sun Apr 20, 2008 4:30 pm

Hi,
currently I sent my X60 to support, as it started lately with rare very short shakes of my screen when running on battery.
Only a very short moment, that the screen moved by display by maybe 1-2 cm. Every once in a while, takes a while until I recognized this. It then also happened, that the whole screen turned into one solid color (grey, lightblue, pink so far) and didn't change anymore.
The X60 is not in standby or so - it still works, whilst I'm blind operating it. I can only reactivate the screen by sending the computer to standby and wake up again.

Now, whilst initially phone support came to the conclusion, that its likely a HW error, I'm not sure anymore. I have now an T60 in exchange, where my harddrive with the very same OS is running now. I experience the same problems here.

This leads me to the conclusion, that some driver is faulty: Thinkpad Power Manager or the video driver... (or what else)?

Is there a place where I can find backlevel drivers to confirm?

(I know there are a couple of similar problems in the forum related to flickering screens, but none like this.)
