If you want to rip audio from an audio dvd, I don't think you'll be able to find a free one.

Don't think DVD Decryptor will extract just the audio. It will give you VOB files which include audio and there are programs that will allow you extraction of audio from them....quite cumbersome. Anyway, I've been doing this a few years...so, here's what you can do. You will need to use DVD Decryptor however to "rip" the Vob files you'll need for the process I mention below. Download DVD Decryptor at the site mentioned in the previous post.
Now, on to my process:
1. First, go and download a free program called DVD2SVCD ( http://www.dvd2dvd.org/ ).
2. You will also need TMPGenc (get their free version here: http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html ). You really don't need TMPG if you aren't going to encode video, but the DVD2SVCD program will not start unless you have a video encoding program attachedc to it. You can also use CinemaCraft Encoder (CCE), but it's not free and ridiculously expensive, so we'll forsake that one for now.
3. You will also need Audacity...(free here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ),
4. and last of all, the WinAmp plugin called File Writer Output Plugin. (Download at: http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.p ... ews&page=2 )
To convert DVD sound tracks to CD to play in your car, etc.:
I use DVD2SVCD and let it do it's thing. However, after the audio extraction and re-coding...that's where the volume level is adjusted to the best level (I think the internal program that DVD2SVCD uses is BeSweet?), I end up with a very large MP2 file in the DVD2SVCD Movie folder under Program Files (of course I can "recover" later and actually make an SVCD of the whole thing). DVD2SVCD's next process is the one that takes hours and hours...the Video encoding with TMPGenc or CCE....LOL, and I so I have such a great feeling when I stop DVD2SVCD and keep the video encoding from happening. I then copy the MP2 file that DVD2SVCD has created to another folder and use WinAmp...yes, of all things, WinAmp! with one of its free plugins called File Writer Output Plugin (see download area, above) which re-encods the long MP2 to a WAV. I then load the WAV up in Audacity, Cut the long file to tracks by highlighting the parts of the WAV (from the beginning) and Pasting them as new tracks and saving each choosing 41Khz (still as WAVs). I also delete dialogues and parts I don't want, by also highlighting and selecting delete for these sections. I do this until I got all the tracks I want, putting them in order by numbering them (number them 01, 02, etc, in case you have more than 10 tracks). Last of all I burn the tracks to CD. I use RecordNow, but you can use whatever favorite burning software you like. The process works great (and after you do this once or twice it's not very difficult and becomes second nature) and all WAVs are automatically encoded as 128bits by Audacity. I can then listen to an excellent quality CD in my car on the way to work, enjoying my long 1 hour commute with a great deal of satisfaction and a smile on my face. Oh yeah...remember to go back and delete all of the files in DVD2SVCD/Movie folder. Now you're ready to do another DVD. I personally like to do DVD's that are Rock concerts!
Sorry this was so long, but this process really creates excellent sounding CD's, so I do it. If anyone has a simpler way, please let me know. There are many paths to get to the same place.

After I posted what I did, I found this:
http://www.imtoo.com/dvd-audio-ripper.html
You can use this for free for 30 days and then buy it if you like it. I just tried it and it works very well....will have to figure some of the settings out but I may just end up keeping this one.
