Legacy windows 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 ... is that free software yet?

#1 Post by Juhas » Sat Apr 26, 2008 2:17 am

Hi

I have IBM's TP 701c and Cs but with only not-removable 8mb RAM and I'm looking for free software to run on these computers.

The question is: MS Windows 1.0, 2.0 etc is for free now? I think it should be, because its very old and now useless software.

Do you know something about?

Do you know other free software (without linux distributions) good for these old guys?

thanks for help:)

Windows 1 and 2 barely worked. Windows 3.1 works, but is very old. I still use Windows 95 on a Toshiba Libretto (although it has pretty much gone out of service for the lack of utility).

I have read nothing that would suggest that the OS's above have become freeware.

So the free OS's for the machines you suggest would be Linux, and one of the smallest (least disk, least memory) Linux system I have run is RedHat 7.3. Very functional, but very old and out-of-date.
