#1 Post by tony6264 » Mon Apr 28, 2008 4:38 pm

I just loaded a T21 that I just got with XP, and when I check in device manager it shows an ubknown device with the question mark over it, but everything seems to be working and I cant think of what it could be referring to?

Assuming that you have all obvious hardware such as modem, LAN etc. etc. the driver that normally catches the most people out is the Power Management ACPI driver. Another possibility could be the install supplements found at the bottom of the driver page

I've seen those question marks, but they're usually under a certain category in Device Manager. What category were you question marks in?

The T21 uses an intel 440BX chipset - a great chipset that is not as driver dependent as the later 800 series an up (you had to install the chipset driver for these chipsets before the rest of the hardware drivers). You need to look at the IBM/Lenovo driver update page for your computer to figure out what you don't have and then install this. As a previous poster said, it's probably the power management driver that is missing.
