Creating Recovery Disc Set failed

#1 Post by mR_PiNk » Tue Jun 10, 2008 3:37 am

I have a problem with getting a copy of a Recovery Disc Set which puts my R61 with Windows Vista Home Premium into the factory state.

I tried creating these discs. The first DVD was burnt successfully, then I was prompted to insert a second disc, but after that nothing happened. I was waiting quite a long time before I decided to close the Rescue Application with the Task Manager. A message appeared, that I have created my set of recovery media successfully, even though only one disc was burnt. After that I tried to create it another time, but I'm only allowed to create one copy. So I cannot try it again. But I don't have any complete Recovery media. What should I do? Can I get these discs directly from Lenovo? Is there another method (without killing my data on C:)?

Thanks a lot for your help. I really need a set of these discs for safety reasons before it is too late.

Call Lenovo up and tell them that the creation failed. If you are still under warranty they will probably send them for free.

OK. I called the US customer service. They told me, that they can't send me the discs because I recently moved to Germany even though I bought the laptop in the US while I was living there. The German customer service is somehow a little bit suspicious about the CTO system and I have to send them a copy of the receipt. Very strangely, the only thing I received along with my laptop was a packing list - no real receipt. However, I sent them the packing list and hope I get those CDs.

wow this is great. The same happened to me and I do not have recovery cd's with now. I even have upgraded my hard disk and I am in problem as I do not have original OS on my machine. I would be thankful to you if you can help me by providing me iso images of the cd/dvd. I would be using it only on my thinkpad and anyway the cd's won't work on any other machine.

waiting for your response.

"the only thing I received along with my laptop was a packing list - no real receipt. "
Lenovo telesales does not supply any receipt other than the email order confirmation. They don't seem to understand this can still be a problem.

sanjeevgpc: Maybe you should try calling the Lenovo support. Apparently they are providing these recovery CD's for such cases without a charge. Good luck.

You need recovery discs which are specific for your system. So you have to check the type no. and tell them what you need. I'm sorry I can't help you out.
