HDA audio device driver not found XP SP3 fix

#1 Post by tyanlion » Sun Jun 22, 2008 9:42 am

Hi,

I thought i might want to share this.

I uninstalled the microsoft's HDA device driver as i was having some audio problems.

When i tried installing the onboard sound card it said HDA audio device driver was not found.

So i went to do a search and looked at lenovo's downloads for the microsoft patch and to my horror it didn't install because i was in sp3. I looked all over the web for the sp3 version but it didn't exist. going through forums and stuff i saw a dozen fixes and ways to get things done but none of them worked.

by that time i was going Oh Sh*t.

so i decided to extract the kb888111xp2en found on lenovo's webpage with winrar. then going to device manager, click on the unknown pci device then go update driver point it to the kb888111xp2en folder then common files and click on the .inf files.

really microsoft and lenovo please get a patch for this please. i know its part of the sp3 but looking around i found quite a lot of ppl having the same problem.

btw this idea came from extracting the sata drivers from the intel matrix storage manager.

hopefully it will save some guys from reinstalling windows
