Codec Problems

#1 Post by sickofit » Sun Dec 19, 2004 3:36 pm

Okay I have some avi files that play no problem....but one has no sound...I looked up the file's audio and its mpeg layer-3...so i tried downloading and installing one but no difference....I tried a couple codec packs, but that screwed everything up...blocky etc...so i uninstalled them...now if i play that one with divx player it has sound...???

Is there any certain codec packs people install that lets them view\hear all kinds of video files(xvid divx, obviously mpeg layer 3,etc)....I have a all video codec installation I always insall with a fresh install...is there anything like that for sound codecs..???

Thanks in advance...

Look for and install the Tsunami Filter Pack. This is a collection of essential (and non-essential codecs). Once installed, you can go to Add/Remove Programs and modify the installed codecs to respond to your needs. Good luck. I know how it is when you have screwed up pitcture or sound with different video/audio formats.

Never used Tsunami, though I'll check it out now, but I've always used Codec All in 1 with no problems. Updated pretty frequently too.
