Problems with R&R backup

I have an X61s running Vista Ultimate. While R&R backup seemed to be working fine, it now gets stuck on "gathering system settings and data, please wait". Any ideas as to why this should happen? I haven't changed anything substantive OS or software-wise since my last backup.
