huge Vista start menu - how to cut it?

#1 Post by Marin85 » Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:41 am

Hi,
the thread name speaks for itself: my Vista sart menu is huge compared to other installations I had. I disabled "store a list of recently used programs", rebooted, but to no avail :? Here is a link, so you can get a better idea: http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/9379 ... enulq7.jpg
Any hints will be greatly appreciated!

Hello
I only have the German version of Vista, so maybe some translations look different on your machine.
Anyway... Usually there is room for 9 icons, but on your system this number has probably been increased.
Do a right-click on the Windows icon, select "Properties", then choose the "Start Menu" tab, then click the button on the top right. You should now see, right in the middle, the setting for the number of icons.

Regards, Martin

Thanks a lot, mate! That did the trick :) I remember now that was also how I always made windows start menus a little more compact.

Cheers
