User profile service has stopped working

#1 Post by nirad » Fri Jul 25, 2008 11:34 am

I have a T61 that came with Vista installed, and which I upgraded to SP1. Lately, i get the following message every couple of days: "User Profile Service has stopped working"

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BEX
Application Name: svchost.exe_ProfSvc
Application Version: 6.0.6001.18000
Application Timestamp: 47918b89
Fault Module Name: StackHash_1abb
Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000
Exception Offset: 00000000
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Data: 00000008
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Information 1: 1abb
Additional Information 2: c9ccbc5f5e0d96c397620c1fabd89743
Additional Information 3: 8013
Additional Information 4: f7896a1382a52dd60d682c0ed9e44a78
I know what the user profile service does, but I have no idea why it would crash. A Google search has turned up some other people with the problem, but no solutions. Has anyone else with a T61 or other Thinkpad experience this problem? I found nothing in the Microsoft knowledgebase.

I have Vista Business 64-Bit running on a T61p and no issue like that. I could not find anything either. Call Microsoft - they are offering both SP1 support and small business support. You can start an email case, and they will assist. ... JDH

Hi Nirad,
I had exactly the same problem and I was about to format my computer when a friend pointed me to this forum:

I have followed the above instructions and thanks God it is all fine now. Hope it helps you too.
Good luck
