This is the first explanation that I've heard about this issue that makes sense: http://thevistaforums.com/index.php?aut ... rticle=138. I applied the fix to both of my Vista PCs a couple of months ago and have not had any problems whatsoever with folder view settings ever since.

Mark - that is the patch they sent me. I just looked at my registry fix from Microsoft and it is the same as the link you provided.
