Recover system; save partition

#1 Post by RasmusP » Mon Sep 01, 2008 11:56 am

Hello,
I want to reestablish my system using the factory recovery image on the hdd, since I have not gotten any good backups to work from.
All of my data is on the D-drive and all programs are on the C-drive. I want to restore the C-drive, but the D-drive should not be touched.

During re-establishment I can chose which files to save, including the whole D-drive. However, I have not gotten a backup Hdd, so I would prefer if there was some way to get R&R to leave the D-drive.

I have R&R 4.10

Thanks in advance,
Rasmus

If you are using the on-board restore it should only reinstall the C:\ partition, leaving the D:\ partition alone. If you run the restore discs it will affect all the partitions on the hard drive.

I would run the factory restore from RnR predesktop. The full factory restore is the only option available to me. There are no options when I chose the restore-only-windows.

Yes......Restore to factory condition will only reinstall windows in the C:\ drive to factory condition from the predesktop area.
It is when you run the cd's that they wipe out all partitions and reinstall the predesktop area. Then it restores windows in the C:\ partition from the predesktop area.
