No image on external monitor (DVI) after resuming from hiber

#1 Post by frankiepankie » Sat Sep 20, 2008 6:02 pm

nate..

Hi,
I have a T42, with Vista Home Premium installed.

I use it in the Port Replicator, which works fine.

I have found a small bug.

If i hibernate in Vista, and wake the laptop up after i return to my PC. I get no image on the external screen.

The external monitor (Dell 1503FP) is connected with DVI to the port replicator.

With my T40 it works fine, but my T40 has XP Prof.

How can i fix this?

Did you try using the keys Fn + F7 to toggle between displays?

Does Fn + F7 work when you are using just your T42 without the dock? If it does not, then perhaps you are missing some drivers. It works on my T42 (ATI 9600) in Vista SP1 (well, I haven't tried this after Hibernation). I don't have a dock to test.

No it doesn't work.

I have the ATi 7500 32MB graphics card.

I am using the "Radeon 7500 graphics" driver.

Do you have the (1) Lenovo System Interface driver and (2) Power Management driver (from Lenovo) installed?

I just tried hibenation in Vista on my T42 with an external monitor connected. When I resume from hibernation, the external monitor is still on. The Fn + F7 keys still switch between monitors. FWIW, I am using the Vista supplied ATI driver, version 8.501.0.0. I have the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 graphics chip.

EDIT: I don't know, you might need the Hotkey Features driver as well. The Power Management driver I referred to above is the ACPI Power Management driver.

I don't have any Lenovo software installed, so that may be the issue

Just the drivers that Vista automatically installed.

I will try the software you suggested ;)

When you download the drivers from Lenovo's site, there are two steps to take.

When you first run the file, it extracts the software package to your hard drive. Next you have to find the file setup.exe in one of the subfolders of C:/Drivers/ and run that file. In each subfolder of C:/Drivers/ is one of the packages you have extracted. If you are unsure whether or not you are in the right folder, double-click on the .XML file. That will open up telling you the name and version of the software in that subfolder.
