Often, after I change my desktop wallpaper and restart my computer, I get the white Active Desktop Recovery page. When this happens, I right click on the desktop, select properties and the desktop tab, and apply my desktop background. Then, the Active Desktop Recovery page goes away, and my web background is reset. I'm not sure whether this is normal after I set a new internet wallpaper (seems it might be), but it's happening on the restart more often ... even if I haven't changed my wallpaper recently. It doesn't happen 100% of the time, but often enough to be noticeable. Why is this happening? Is there a problem with my computer, or are occurrences like this routine in this virtual world?

Why does the Active Desktop Recovery screen show up so often

I just had a friends W2k computer doing this. It was either a virus or too many temporary files and a fragmented drive. I deleted all the temp files, browser temp files, and cookies, rebooted, ran a virus scan and defragged. The computer was very unstable and I removed the files with a win98 bootup disk. It's running fine now.
