Folks,
Just wondering if anyone else is running Vista x64 on their T61's with nVidia GPU and can get 3DMark05/06 to complete? I can run 3DMark01/03 without a problem.
But when I run 3DMark05/06 it errors out with "IDirect3D9::CreateDevice failed: Invalid call (D3DERR_INVALIDCALL)."
Using the latest nVidia drivers, and the benchmarks complete in 32-bit Vista with the same driver package. It looks like there's just something that the Vista x64+nVidia driver doesn't like regarding DirectX9, but I've installed the latest DirectX redist from Microsoft, still doesn't help.
I've also run with and without Admin rights, installed it into a directory other than Program Files (x86), used compatability mode, etc. Everything works great, and it's not enough for me to go back to 32-bit (in fact, all my benchmark scores are higher with Vista x64 SP1 than in 32-bit). Just don't like having a nagging unresolved issue. lol
Daniel.

Despite repeated searches, I can't find much on this error other than in developers' forums, but nothing specific to 3DMark05 and 3DMark06 failing when running on a T61+nVidia with 64-bit Vista.
However, I downloaded a modded driver pack, installed it, and now the benchmarks complete, and they are in line with the 32-bit Lenovo-supplied Quadro drivers. So all is well. There is definitely something amiss with the Quadro drivers and DX in 64-bit, but at least I know there's a solution.
Here's the link to the modded drivers:

Just in case anyone else runs into this problem or is looking for incremental performance improvements in DX games over the Quadro drivers from Lenovo.
