Acdsee 8.0 pro license # location?

#1 Post by lemmerdeur » Sat Nov 01, 2008 4:49 pm

I have been using Acdsee8.0 pro and I like it. I just changed my hard drive and want to reinstall my acdsee program but I don't have the license # any more. Is there a way to retrieve it from the old hard drive? Where should I look for it? I am using windows XP

I have never used acdsee, but a thought: A lot of programs have something like "about" menu or "product resources" or something similar to that where product version, developer names and similar are displayed. Maybe you could find your serial number there if you are still able to boot from your old drive.

When I try to launch the software it tells me to reinstall it because a Dll file is missing. I have a complete folder for Acdsee pro and I am sure the license # is in one of the folders but I don't find i or I can't open the folder, some are XML document?

In my experience the serial number is shortened (and hence useless) here.

An alternative possibility, if you have the old drive, is that there are some apps that will extract the serial numbers and save them to a backup file for legitimate purposes.
EDIT e.g. http://www.techsnack.net/how-to-search- ... r-computer

Could you email the ACDC author/ vendor -even the shortened serial or a screen shot might help?

What DLL? What does the exact error message say? I'm confused, you see, why a missing DLL error means you need to enter your registration code.

My understanding from reading the earlier messages is that the OP can't get the registration code from the program's Help or About menu because the missing .DLL prevents it from starting.

@lemmerdeur: If you remember the email and credit card information you used to order the software, go here:

When I try to access the program from the original drive, it give me an error and ask me to reinstall the program because a Dll can't be found.
