"ERROR Failed to find either 24-bit TrueColor or 8-bit

#1 Post by dtzihe » Fri Nov 07, 2008 11:09 am

I have a X200T with the integrated graphics and Windows XP Tablet Edition. I'm trying to connect to a server and set up a X Windows kind of thing, but I get this error message: "ERROR Failed to find either 24-bit TrueColor or 8-bit PseudoColor Visual"

Whe I go to Control Panel--> Display --> Settings --> Color Quality, I only see two options: 1) Highest (32-bit) and 2) Medium (16-bit). I don't see an option for 24-bit or "millions of colors", etc.

Any ideas?

Do you have proper drivers for the integrated graphics installed?
If not, install them.
If yes, see if there is an update on Lenovo.

Yes! My computer is brand new and I just used System Update to update all the drivers.

Check in your Device Manager if there are any yellow exclamation marks. That would point to a non-installed driver.

Just checked in device manager, no exclamation marks. Any further ideas? Thanks for trying to help!

You're obviously in a 'field' I have not the foggiest idea about.

That is a great link!

Amazingly, that is the exact program I need to use and that is the exact problem I am having. Still have not found a solution yet though.

Maybe you should post this in our Linux forum?
