T400 supposedly with XP Downgrade

#1 Post by cwestwater » Wed Nov 19, 2008 9:47 am

Hi,

I just purchased this T400:

http://uk.insight.com/apps/productprese ... LENYA064XV#

As you can see from the specification, it comes with Vista but XP downgrade. I expected to start the laptop and see XP, but Vista is installed.

Now I read on the Lenovo forums, if you burnt the recovery DVD's and used them, it should install XP. Is this correct? The strange thing is I searched for this model on the Lenovo website to get a proper answer on the issue and it does not show up!

I called Tech support and the guy (in very bad english) said I had to get the downgrade discs from the supplier, which I think is nonsense. I then opened up a case electronically hoping to get a better answer and two weeks later I get a reply telling me to call the support number!

Thought I would check with you guys first

Thanks
Rocking with a T400 for work, and a T60 at home
