Another BSOD - ar5211.sys

#1 Post by K. Eng » Wed Jan 12, 2005 10:20 pm

I returned to my desk to find yet another BSOD on my T40. I got a stop 0x0000008 or something like that because of ar5211.sys, which as far as I can tell is related to my wireless drivers.

Windows claims that it shut down because an area of the Windows OS in RAM was corrupted. Microsoft's diagnostic site suggested that I run a memory test and I did so (no errors in either MSFT's test or PC Doctor).

Has anyone else had problems with the a/b/g wireless and blue screens? I hadn't updated the drivers since before IBM went towards integrating the b/g and a/b and a/b/g drivers in one file.

I just updated to the drivers released yesterday... I hope nothing else gets screwed up. :?

Hmmm...I almost downloaded that new driver yesterday as well. I was actually intent on making use of the fix for 'improved power consumption' that they claim came with the 15WW version.

Maybe try installing the 15WW version (3.1.102.27 as opposed to 3.1.102.27a for the 16WW version).

Let us know how you get on.

I installed the new driver after I got the BSOD.

The BSOD hasn't returned.

I've also run Microsoft Windows memory test and IBM diagnostic tests and they both say nothing is wrong hardware wise.

I don't know why I get these BSODs. I have never gotten one on my desktop system.
