ICQ + Vista x64 + Adobe Flash issue SOLUTION

#1 Post by Marin85 » Mon Feb 02, 2009 10:02 am

Probably a well-known problem for Vista x64 + ICQ users:

Description: Under Vista x64, when exiting ICQ, ICQ stops responding, which produces the usual Vista prompt (can become very annoying over time).

Vista suggests to download the latest Adobe Flash version from Adobe. Unfortunately, manually downloading and installing it doesn´t resolve the issue.

For those of you who experience the issue here is the "tricky" solution:

For some time now I don´t use IE anymore as my default browser, actually I don´t use it at all, I use FF3 which anyways works good with the latest Flash releases for Vista x64. Thus I have never thought of trying to install Adobe Flash ActiveX within IE. All that time I have been experiencing the annoying prompt when shutting down ICQ. As already stated, manual download and install of Adobe Flash didn´t resolve the issue for me. But most surpisingly, installing Adobe Flash ActiveX component within IE 7 solved the issue. I was also able to reproduce the problem and its solution, so I believe it wasn´t a coincidence. :)

Hope this helps to those who are experiencing the same problem

How can I convert a Printshop file into Adobe Reader? I have a printshop file, which i need to email, not everyone recieving the email has printshop, I need to convert it into Adobe Reader so that everyone recieveing it can see it. It includes clipart, no animation, it is pretty basic.

I´m not sure how your post it related anyway to the problem description, but since ICQ seems to have been dead for quite some time now, here the first thing that popped up when searching: http://pdf-converter.pdf-converter.qarchive.org/ It should be able to convert your file to .pdf.

Good luck
