Driver Issue

#1 Post by kduniverse » Mon Mar 02, 2009 8:40 pm

But I can't figure out which driver it is. Everytime I startup my T400, I get a message that I need to reinstall it. In Device Manager there is an "Other Devices" and "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" that is not configured correctly. How do I know which device it is? And no matter what I do, I can't get it to reinstall correctly. Any ideas?

Check out the next to the last post in the following thread. That is how I got bluetooth to work properly on my T42.

Look at the following to see which bluetooth software you need for your operating system.

Ok, tried the second link first. I already have that working. This "other device" is a mystery to me. What could this Bluetooth Peripheral Device be? My bluetooth mouse works, but could there be something else with it? That's all I use Bluetooth for, is the mouse.

I also just noticed that when I turn the Bluetooth radio off, that unknown device dissapears.

A BT peripheral device is everything that is connected to your laptop via BT. So, if it is only the BT mouse and, as you say, then for some odd reason it is not displayed properly in device manager. I would try reinstalling it.

Either I'm not uninstalling everything properly, or installing things improperly, but I still have the same issues after I uninstalled the Logitech software, and reinstalled.

Probably none of it. If everything works, I wouldn´t bother with the error in device manager... (BTW, I was almost sure that it´s a Logitech BT mouse, there were several threads in the past on issues with these...)

Ok, thanks. I will do a search later on, and see how that goes.

With deleting the software for the Logitech, what more do I need to do to stop the "found new hardware" dialog box from coming up at startup?

Since you have installed the driver and the mouse is working, the only thing you can do now is "hacking" windows. The "Find New Hardware" wizard can be disabled via registry -> take a look HERE. But this is not really a solution to your original problem. There should be a way to make windows work properly with all this Logitech and BT stuff...
