Unexpected Shutdowns
Windows always seems to be recovering from an unexpected shutdown, at least once a week. What gives? I have had nothing but issues with this T400 since I ordered in Dec. Anyone know why I keep having crashes?

Re: Unexpected Shutdowns
As a first step I would run PC-Doctor (now Lenovo Toolbox) and memtest86+ to test the hardware. If they are clean, then your problem is caused most probably by a bad driver or some application (or corrupt windows).
IBM Lenovo Z61p | 15.4'' WUXGA | Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 2x 2.16GHz | 4 GB Kingston HyperX | Hitachi 7K500 500 GB + WD 1TB (USB) | ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 | ThinkPad Atheros a/b/g | Analog Devices AD1981HD | Win 7 x86 + ArchLinux 2009.08 x64 (number crunching)

Re: Unexpected Shutdowns
Memtest came back clean. Lenovo Toolbox has the Bluetooth error from my other post...that I still can't figure out..
Re: Unexpected Shutdowns
BCCode 9f signifies in most cases for a hardware problem like memory (I would run a few more passes of memtest86+) or overheating. The latter one could be an explanation for the shutdowns. You should start monitoring the temperatures of your system (cpu and, if possible, gpu). As already stated, this problem might be caused by a bad driver and since you have this problem with the BT stuff, the issue might be caused by the Logitech or BT driver. In some cases such errors occur under the presence of malware, so you may want to scan your system thoroughly for viruses/malware.

Re: Unexpected Shutdowns
Unreal. I've had this since the end of Dec with these issues. Lenovo sent this to me with all these issues and bugs I've had!!
Re: Unexpected Shutdowns
I can understand you! Unfortunately, there is always a small chance that one receives a problematic machine (if it is the hardware at all). That´s what the warranty is for (among other things). Also, Lenovo preload overstuffed with all these complex applications interacting with the OS can be sometimes considered as an invitation for errors of various nature...kduniverse wrote:Unreal. Re: Unexpected Shutdowns
Before Lenovo (and IBM before them) will accept hardware responsibility for this kind of issue, they will demand you re-image to factory specs and see if it continues to crash. If not, the problem is yours. If it does crash, the problem is theirs.
It is a relatively important question. I have T61p that came with Vista Business 64-bit. I bashed the first image up learning about Vista and bashed the second image up learning about Vista. I reimaged it a second time (third image) about June last year, added software to my liking and made important 64-bit fix upgrades in July and August. I put it in production as a daily driver in September. It has crashed exactly no times (zero) since the third image.
So I would suggest you do not have a Vista problem. SinceI never had any crashes with XP or Windows 2000 before that, it is also not a Windows problem. Either the machine is defective, or something you added caused a problem.
