Hotkeys in Vista

#1 Post by carlisle_united » Sun Apr 26, 2009 3:33 am

Hi everyone

I'm having a little battle with Vista on my R32.
I cant get the hotkeys for volume and mute to work.
The OSD tells me that I raise or lower the volume when I press them
but it don't work. I have to change the volume in Vista manualy insted.

Anybody have a good solution for this or do I have to love with this because
there is no good drivers for Vista on my machine?

Best regards

Generally one needs the Lenovo System Interface driver, the ACPI Power Management driver, as well as the Hotkey utility driver installed. Lenovo does not supply any Vista drivers for the R32.

Running Vista on an R32 might be an interesting experiment, but I think you will find Vista too sluggish for day to day use on such an old model.

I concur, sage advice from GomJabbar.
.
Running Vista on your machine would be far less than satisfying. Especially on one of my favorite R models from the past.

I quite agree with the two moderators. But, running in "Classic" mode ("adjust for best performance, then re-enable Clear Type, pointer shadow and Menu Shadow will allow for slightly greater speed with a decent GUI. Aero and other unneeded Vista goofy things will be disabled, allowing for slightly better performance. (this is provided you particular machine even allows those "enhancements" to run at all)

Excellent points, which will certainly provide the best possible experience given the typical level of resources this machine has.

It isn't realy that painfull using Vista on the R32.
I only use it for connecting it to my camera and using it when I photograph and some times for some quick editing in PS.
And it actualy works quite good... OK its a bit slow in the start but since me and XP dosn't realy get along I decided to work with Vista when I'm not using my Mac.

And I only use this R32 until I can afford do get a newer one that can handle Vista a litle better...
Would an R51 or R52 manage Vista alot better or do I need a brand new Thinkpad?

Anyway already installed all of that so I supose it just won't work.

Cheers anyway
