Applications close when I open another one

A little help please. Very very annoying. Laptop works normally using Windows XP. I am working in Excel, try to use Word and Excel closes automatically. Happens with every Microsoft product. Anyone know how to fix?

Try uninstalling Office and re-installing it. See if that makes any difference and report back.

You wanted a quick reply and, when a solution is offered, there is then a rather long pause. :?

Have you tried the possible solution?
