Application "tpvolbar"?
Application "tpvolbar"?
I've seen an application called "tpvolbar" in my task manager. Process Library has nothing on it, and a Google search produces very limited results; what does come up, I don't understand. Anyone know what tpvolbar is?

It appears to have something to do with TPV Electronics. Most of the hits are in Chinese Language, but that is basically what it appears to be. ... JDH
Re: Application "tpvolbar"?
Thanks, JD. I googled TPV Elecronics and it seems it supplies ac adapters among other things. Maybe it's something to do with my adapter/charging cycle. Whenever I've seen this application in task manager, it doesn't seem to hang around long. Just disappears.

Seems to be part of/related to Lenovo util TPONSCR.EXE (ThinkPad Onscreen Display)

Re: Application "tpvolbar"?
Thanks, RBS. I was going to make a follow-up post because I also came across something that said it was related to the OSD. But, what makes it absolutely certain is that last night I observed the following: if I'm watching task manager during a Skype call, the appearance of tpvolbar coincides precisely with the appearance of the OSD volume bar which sometimes shows up at the bottom of the screen when I speak into the microphone. When the volume bar disappears, tpvolbar also disappears from the applications list. I thought because of its elusive nature in task manager that it might be a virus. I'm relieved that it's not.

Tpvolbar pops up in task manager when the OSD bar shows when the volume buttons are depressed or screen brightness is changed using Fn-Home. Oddly, search doesn’t find a file called “tpvolbar*.*” on my machine.

My findings exactly. I tried a search, too, but nothing showed. Re: Application "tpvolbar"?
I just checked my Windows 7 machine, and this thing does not come up in Task Manager when I activate On Screen. There was a new version out within the last 7 days and I am using that, so that may be why. ... JDH

Re: Application "tpvolbar"?
Hello all,
I have been having this issue intermittently on my T60p running Windows XP for ages now but just figured out the solution!
When the ThinkPad Volume Bar (TPVOLBAR process) freezes, just End Task in the Applications tab of Windows Task Manager.
I did a full search of my disk for TPVOLBAR and also found nothing, but if you now [re]start the On-screen Display Drawer process, the volume bar works perfectly again!
(Start, Run, "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY\TPONSCR.exe")
Hope this helps someone because I don't see another solution anywhere on the Web despite it being a longstanding issue!
