RAM management utility suggestions?

#1 Post by jsuebersax » Sun Feb 27, 2005 4:06 am

I'm trying to understand the RAM allocation of my 600 (running Win 98 ) and to identify RAM-hogging apps.

The utilities I've tried so far tend to crash. They also give different results. For instance, the Win98 System Properties utility may say I'm using 42% of my RAM, while a non-MS utility says I'm using 100%. (That raises a separate issue--is the MS utility not telling the full story?)

Has anyone found a memory utility that works well and reliably on their ThinkPad? I just need something to list much RAM each app is using. I don't necessarily want memory optimization features.

RAM managment software only uses more RAM itself. If you need better managment, moved to a NT based operating system. NT4 Windows 2000
Windows XP will all handle memory better than 98. The only way to free up memory is to load less programs or add more. Check what you have running during startup.
