Are you sure that your CD reader is working at all?

Do you have a different hard drive with an OS already installed on it to see if it boots?

Nope, all I know is that is will play movies, music, and install software.

You are going to hate Vista on a T40. That is a bad choice for that machine and it will be slow ...

Oh, is there a way to get Ubuntu 10.04 original disk, because I think the ThinkPad is having problems with burnt disks.

When you create a burnt disc are you setting the write speed to x2 or x4??? If you burn it at x16 or "Max Speed" it may create the disc but with errors!

YES! But, I don't know if they send you a pressed disk, or a burned disk, as I've never ordered one.

Thanks for everyones help!

I just brought the ThinkPad to a laptop repair place, and the guy has a recovery disk for thinkpads, and he is going to put an OS on it, and antivirus for me, and it only cost $60!
