Bootvis
Bootvis
T42 running SP2. Every time I try to run Bootvis, I get the "Program Encountered an Error and Needs To Stop" error. Tried to reboot and run it several time.. same error. I used to be able to run it. Any ideas?

Odd. I ran it about a week ago on my T42P XP SP2 with no trouble. Version 1.3.37.0. It had relatively little effect, but worked without error.
If an uninstall/reinstall doesn't do it, I'm guessing some process is conflicting with it. Can you try a selective startup with MSConfig and see if that gets around it ? If so, then you'll be able to narrow it down.

Yes and no---- Bootvis "technology" is built into XP. Bootvis DOES help, sometimes less, sometimes more. In addition, the graphs produced are invaluable for diagnosing boot delays.
I find it funny that MS, who dosn't want you using Bootvis cause they don't support it, says "not a tool that will improve boot/resume performance for end users. Gee, I wonder why it won't beneft them, but it WILL benefit OEMs.

Bootvis also requires Task Scheduler in order to run. I used to disable that by default and it gave me problems :/
Windows is supposed to use idle time to automatically optimize boot times, but anyone who hsa run Bootvis on a loaded system will say that it makes a big difference - it's like a jump start for the boot process.
