Standby out of nowhere!!

#1 Post by Nolonemo » Thu Mar 17, 2005 8:00 pm

I have a 560x running win2k. After running on batter for about an hour, it spontaneously goes into standby. There's plenty of juice left in the battery. I set the go on standby setting down to 10%, and it still happened. I disabled the go on standby on low battery and it still happens.

I should note that I had a previous install of Win2k on the machine and this never happened. This particular install is a dual boot setup with Win98 on a small partitioned c: and the w2k install on D:.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Does it go into standby in both 98 and 2k? that should determine (possibly) if it's hardware or software malfunction...

Run Spybot, an antivirus scanner, burn some incense and pray to the everlasting gobstopper...

Does it do it on AC power, and could you possibly have a third party power controller? You're not inadvertently hitting the shortcut to standby are you?

Good luck!
Skeet are fun to shoot, but they're real hard to cook...
