Findfast - Do I need it?

#1 Post by halaluya » Thu Mar 24, 2005 10:40 pm

When I boot up the first thing I see is something called Findfast. Do I need this thing to pop up and ruin my day? How do I get rid of it?

thanks!

No. It's a pig. Uninstall it.

I honestly don't remember whether it's here or not, but try:

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs

If it's not there, then I think I vaguely remember using the Uninstall feature in Office to get rid of it. Someone else who has done this recently may chip in.

I agree... findfast is a waste of resources.. unless you deal with tons of work documents on a regular basis.

If I recall, FindFast gets put into the Startup group in the Start Menu... Programs. Just taking it out of there prevents it from starting up when you logon.

Maybe something has changed and more work is needed now...

Your all "almost" there:

1. Yes, get rid of it;

2. As nonny says, goto Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel;

3. Select (on the left) Add/Remove Windows Components;

4. Uncheck "Indexing Service";

5. Live Long & Prosper.
