Internet from cell via bluetooth dongle?

#1 Post by thetimerider » Tue Jun 21, 2011 11:59 am

I have been trying to setup a internet connection with PDAnet and a bluetooth dongle on my r51 from a samsung intercept on the sprint network. I can find pretty good instructions on how to configure the phone but not windows xp, or access connections.

Any help or link to step by step instructions would be helpful.

Thanks

Seeing as how none have responded yet, try this:

I also found a lot of other info googling for "pdanet bluetooth" without quotes. I've only used PDANet with usb thus far... have you made sure you can get it working wired/tethered 1st?

Yes Ive been using it tethered, however the phone charges all the time its tethered and I'm concerned about frying the battery.
Ive been to the link you supplied, but just don't seem to be able to make the connection. I have read that not all Bluetooth dongles will support an internet connection. It don't actually say that i am not connected but im not able to get on the net.

I went through several cheapo BT dongles before I found one that worked for my palm way back... it was actually a VERY cheap one ($2.00) from dealextreme.com... actually came with the BlueSoleil software(the best BT manager I've found).

So yea, not all BT dongles are created equal unfortunately.

Might wanna waste a few $ and try some of these...

$1.80 - http://www.dealextreme.com/p/super-mini ... ible-11866

$2.29 - http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultra-mini ... lack-37212

or the REALLY expensive :P ones:

$5.62 - http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultra-mini ... ngle-37665

$4.29 - http://www.dealextreme.com/p/bluetooth- ... -antenna-7

They got lot's... for the cost of one locally... you can try many of theirs :)

all the rest: http://s.dealextreme.com/search/bluetooth+dongle

Very safe site to do buisiness with, been shopping there for years, they are Honk Kong.. so shipping takes a bit (usually 2 weeks). Just read the reviews of individual products.
