I have a networking problem which I have no clue of what is going on. The machine can detect the router 192.168.0.1 using Linux so no problem there. However, Win98 networking is a nightmare as it cannot seem to detect the router. If I ask it to find the IP address for itself, Win98 will assign the 169.*.*.* address to it. If I personally set to 192.168.0.4, it will still not see (e.g. ping) the router.
My laptop is a 365XD (downgraded to DSTN instead of TFT due to broken hinges
I have tried to use different drivers i.e. Win98 or Win95 drivers to no avail. Reformatted the PC as well. It was working ages ago before I reformatted it. Should have seen how it was setup but anyway too late for that now.
Tried messing with the configuration settings i.e. irq but to no avail. Any idea?
Please help.
Thanks.
