Re: 51NB.com: X62 mainboard in the way
I've acquired a first-run board for testing (have it in-hand). There are a few minor issues that absolutely needed to get fixed before a full rollout, but I'm actually pleasantly surprised by the overall polish. It exists, and it works. It works well. I dearly wish there was a tablet version, or at least a version with a second battery/charging circuit (so I could use an internal battery in the HDD bay; that's ~ 3000mAH of wasted space!)
My goal is to bench it against a bored/stroked X61 running a P9700 Penryn, assuming I succeed in actually building that beast.

Thank you for the info! That's some really good news
I only hope that they will wind a way to sell it abroad. I'm sure there are lots of people who want this new mobo.
Could you inform us when they will be offering an international sale?
Cheers

Re: 51NB.com: X62 mainboard in the way
It may look like these boards (T50 and X62) are proof of concept tests, and only one batch of cards are made for each design?
Are they afraid Lenovo will take action if these cards get sold internationally?
Hopefully the T6x design will be free of major bugs and sold internationally.
(Don't forget it must also support QXGA displays, not only UXGA).

Re: 51NB.com: X62 mainboard in the way
very cool! i would be interested in one for the sake of a project to play with, if nothing else.
any chance this uses coreboot for firmware/bios?
any chance design schematic and pcb files are open, or is it a proprietary design?

Re: 51NB.com: X62 mainboard in the way
The current revision is proprietary and uses a regular, closed source UEFI. Not sure about future plans, I think they're a biiit swamped with all the attention.
