Hello. I had an idea, I'm not sure if anyone has tried this. How about machining a new base from aluminium, that would accept a modern X2__ mainboard, and also an older T4_ screen lid. I think the width of an older 4:3 14" screen would be about right for a widescreen 12" 16:9 motherboard. I am living in Shenzhen, China for now, and there's a workshop with a CNC mill just around the corner, it's not terribly expensive, and they can anodize parts too. I know older screens accept different signals (lvds vs edp?), but there are converter boards around, and the bioses can be fussy. It's mostly just a fun project. If anyone has any ideas or input, I'd appreciate it. I understand the lcdfans/nb51 guys are in Shenzhen, I might try to message them.
Regards, David
Edit: Now I think about it, I don't think there were any good screens in 14" 4:3?

Re: Idea for FrankenPad
There was a decent Quantum screen 14,1" in 4:3 ratio, but it's still TN. Still far away from 15" 4:3 screen.
Too many thinkpads not enough time!
