Power plans for T70

#1 Post by wujstefan » Fri Jan 26, 2018 4:06 pm

Hello,

I'm trying to set up my T70, and am experiencing some difficulties with it - especially personalizing it up to my needs.

I'm trying to set a couple of profiles, because the i7-7820 beast is very power hungry - and HOT. However, no matter which software I use (throttlestop, intel xtu...) all that I can observe is switching turbo boost off. I could easily change multipliers i.e. to 15x, but it still works at 29x. The only thing that really works is switching turbo boost off.

I guess you guys already have your profiles set, so maybe there is some workaround I cant find.

I have the 7700HQ version, so I can only guess in some respects. Probably, you'll need to enable the XTU interface option in the BIOS. And probably the overclocking options, too.

But first, I recommend you to try the power saving options I mentioned in your other thread:

Now I almost killed myself with a facepalm.

My brain must have taken a long trip this weekend (fishing, BBQing, whatever). I did not - at any point - check if this option is enabled in BIOS

Will get back after I examine the BIOS.
