51nb x220 fan mod help needed

#1 Post by Drago » Sat Mar 09, 2019 3:34 am

I am about to replace the fan in my x220, ordered all the necessary parts, and found this thread on forum.51nb.com about replacing thermal pad with copper sheets, and modding the fan airvent. But I cannot se the photos, as I am not registered, and I do not speak Chinese. Could anyone who is member of this board kindly provide me with a screenshot? I am intrigued by this mod. https://forum.51nb.com/forum.php?mod=vi ... ra=page=11

Based on the pictures, it looks like the X230 heatsink has bigger heatpipes, a more powerful fan, and an all-copper construction. Regarding the X220 heatsink, I find it annoying that there's a sheet of metal (I dunno what it is) in between the heatpipes and the cooling fins, which may impede thermal conductivity. I believe it's one of the reasons why the X220 runs a bit hot.
