x210 Success/Failure reports with memory SODIMMs?

#1 Post by zxzkzkz » Sat Mar 09, 2019 1:12 pm

Anyone have an x210 from nb51 and tried any of these memory sticks? If so please post if you had success and which cpu you have. Also whether you had to remove any head spreader and whether you've had any issues with heat?
  • Timetec Hynix IC
    DDR4 • 2400MHz • PC4-19200 • 260 Pin • Unbuffered • Non-ECC • 1.2V • CL16 • Dual Rank • 2Rx8 based • 1024x8
  • Kingston Technology HyperX Impact
    2400MHz DDR4 CL14 260-Pin
  • CORSAIR CMSX32GX4M2A2400C16 Vengeance
    260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) CL16 1.2V
  • DATARAM
    DDR4 2400Mhz PC4-19200 CL17 SO DIMM
  • Crucial Memory Module Kit
    DDR4, PC4-19200 2400MHz, CL17, SODIMM 260-Pin, x8 Based, Unbuffered, Non-ECC, 1.2V
I'm tempted to go with the most expensive CL14 Kingston even though the "automatic overclocking" is irrelevant just for the CL14 latency and hopefully better quality. But it is a lot more expensive than the Crucial or the "Timetec" or "DATARAM" bargain bin ones.

I don't have a 210 but as general advice you'd almost certainly never notice the memory latency difference in actual use. I'd avoid the Timetec/Dataram but Crucial should be fine.
If you can afford it and just want to know you have the fastest then sure get the HyperX.
Current Thinkpads:
X31, X40, X61T, X61, X201, X220 (i7 IPS), W520 (FHD), T440p (FHD),
T480 (QHD)
Dells: Latitude C840, Precision M70, Precision M4400, M6400 (WUXGA), M6600, M6700, 7730, XPS 13
Daily driver: MS Surface Pro 7 (i7)

I'm using a 2x16GB Kingston HyperX Impact DDR4-2400 CL14 (HX424S14IB/16). Works fine at 2400 MHz without any changes to UEFI firmware as shipped.

This is on a '3rd batch' X210 from Jackie/cnmod.

AMD Radeon R7 Performance Series R744G2400U1S-U 4 GB - does not work correctly. Memory errors, system was unstable. Maybe the module itself was defective.
PATRIOT Viper 4 PV416G240C5S DDR4 16 Gb - works fine both at 2400MHz and at 2133MHz
Crucial CT4GSFS8213 2133MHz 4Gb - works fine

DDR4 2400 is OK ,the CORSAIR is ok ,I have tested .
